Lake Tahoe in March

Lake Tahoe in March

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. We had our pea-coats with us, and I took a bag. Of all my worldly possessions I took no more than the few necessaries that filled the bag. Where I might go, what I might do, or when I might return, were questions utterly unknown to me; nor did I vex my mind with them…

Expect a Great March in Lake Tahoe

No need for you to vex your mind, either. Head to Lake Tahoe this March for a much needed break from the doldrums of winter. Typically, days in Tahoe in March will be sunny and in the high 40s. Overnight temps hit the 20s, so the mountains are open all month. There are so many activities to enjoy here year round, you’ll never be bored. Along with the outdoor activities, this month you might check out a new restaurant, celebrate St. Patty’s Day, or round out the quiet hours with NCAA’s “March Madness” tournament. Call Kathy at Tahoe Destination Vacation Rentals to find the perfect home for your stay. Whether you’re planning some one-on-one with your favorite someone, or a group activity, Kathy has a home that will fit your needs. Here is our newest rental home, the Sugar Shack, a sweet and sunny 3 bedroom home in South Lake Tahoe.

Vacation Home Rentals in Lake Tahoe

Take a look at some of the rentals available in the Tahoe Keys. This private marina community in South Lake Tahoe boasts waterfront homes, private boat docks and direct access to the lake. The Keys also provide many amenities including a private beach, tennis courts, swimming pool, marina and more. The Tahoe Keys Property Owner’s Association has more information about this beautiful and unique area.  If you are concerned about water levels, the Lahontan Water Board has issued permits for extending piers and dredging at every marina on the California side of the lake. In the Keys, the West Channel dredging project ballot has passed, so access to the lake will be maintained.

Hard Rock Opens in Tahoe

New in Tahoe, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino opened at the end of January and has had a great reception. Located at 50 US-50 in Stateline, the opening brings a welcome vitality to the area. Scott A. Lukas has written a thoughtful article about the new casino with several photos that you may want to take a look at here.

McP’s Taphouse Where Old is New Again

Another recent opening is McP’s Taphouse at 4125 Lake Tahoe Blvd. In a new location, but with their reputation in Tahoe since 1992, and featuring local live music every week, McP’s is a Tahoe landmark!  For the 17th, get a little green on and bring your Irish self on over! With 20 big screen TVs, 40 draft beers, and a new menu, this will be the spot to relax and watch a little basketball. The NCAA tournament begins play (coincidentally??) on the 17th and continues until the championship game on April 6th. Be sure to tell Pete that Kathy said to stop by!
